I originally created this blog especially for Multilingual Learners (MLLs). This is also a blog for educators, students, parents, and caregivers. My blog has links to games and websites to help students, as well as anyone interested, to learn 21st Century Skills. It also contains helpful resources to help with socio-emotional and mental health. If you like having fun while learning new things, this is the blog for you. Have fun! ~Ms. Chuk

An amazing first week of school! Please use the available resources on this blog.
It has been a wonderful first 3 days of school; an excellent beginning. Students are reading, writing and working on place value with addition and base ten blocks.
They are behaving like proper third grade students. Our class has already earned 30 Bumble Bucks so far. I am so proud of them. They are working hard and being mindful of their surroundings and their actions.
I just wanted to remind parents and students that this blog I created for you has many resources for the students to develop all their academic skills, while having fun. Please utilize this blog at any time on your computer, your tablets, your cell phones, your laptops, from anywhere you can get WiFi or internet access.
I look forward to continuing to have a wonderful year with this group of students!

Welcome to the new school year!
September
2, 2015
Dear
Students and Families,
Welcome to third grade. My name is Ms. Chuk and I
will be your child’s 3rd grade teacher. I look forward to working with and getting to
know you and your child. We are
continuing with the Reading Street
reading program this year. I will be working hard to continue to develop and
strengthen your child’s reading skills.
Some students will “Walk to Read” during Small Group Reading time which
means some of them will go to other teachers to work on their reading skills. Our math program is called MyMath. Math homework usually reinforces the math
lesson of that day. In Science, we have
a lot of hands-on activities that your child will enjoy while learning valuable
science concepts and scientific methods.
Your child will also be doing lots of writing in this school year. We will be working very hard in room 205 this
year. Your support at home is very
important to your child’s success in school.
I greatly appreciate your help and support at home.
This support includes:
ü Making sure your child has excellent attendance and has an early bedtime. When your child is absent just one day they miss a
great deal of instruction. The 3rd
grade curriculum is rigorous and your child will be working hard in school each
day. Your child needs to be in school everyday and well rested to keep up with
all the daily lessons in each subject.
ü
Limiting the amount of television and video games played during the
school week. Saving these activities for Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday is a good way to reward daily reading and homework completion.
ü
Monitoring your child’s homework and daily home reading.
ü
Reminding them to
be Respectful, Responsible, and Kind.
ü Monitoring school supplies. Your child must come prepared to work; this
includes having pencils and their homework
folder everyday.
ü Practice speaking English as
much as possible.
This
support is crucial to your child’s success.
I look forward to working together with you to ensure that your child
has a successful and exciting school year.
I feel that it is important to have an open line of communication between home
and school. Please send me a note
with your child if you have any questions or concerns, or leave me a
message at school at 456-9367, or contact me through email at Thay.Chuk@ppsd.org. You can also
visit my blog at http://www.mstchuk.blogspot.com.
It is my hope that we can work as partners throughout the school year in order
to ensure an enriching and fun school year for your child.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
Thay Chuk, M. Ed.

Please be advised: Inappropriate Game
Parents and students:
Please be aware that students have been found playing a game they call Charlie Charlie. I will not get into the details, but please research more about this game. Students have informed me of not so positive things happening to people they know and are close to them. They are petrified of it, yet they feel the urge to play it.
Please know that this game is not welcomed in my classroom.
